Nerd and Nest - Nesting System Gaming Table: Review

Nerd and Nest - Nesting System Gaming Table: Review  Introduction: There are two quintessential gaming accessories in any gamers life; a gaming shelf (preferred option being the Kallax) and a gaming table. These tables take many forms from a standard dining room table, a poker table, or for the lucky few, a tailored made gaming table. There are a lot of tried and true companies overseas that specialise in these tables, however, today's review is focused on the second iteration of the Nerd and Nest table here in Australia.  Nerd and Nest: Nerd and Nest is a newly developed Brisbane based company on a quest to design affordable, modular and easy to assemble/disassemble tables. Their first nesting table had a successful kickstarter and can be found at their site here. The pursuit of this second version was to build and improve on what was learned to develop the same principal but with better wood options, easier assembly and the addition of accessories.  The Tabl...

Meeple Stickers - Five Tribes and Five Tribes Artisans of Naquala Stickers: Review

Meeple Stickers - Five Tribes and Five Tribes Artisans of Naquala Stickers: Review Introduction: Five Tribes is an excellent game and one of my top mancala/worker placement games. For a full review on the game, go to the review here. Today, however, we are reviewing a product that can make this game even better, enhanced stickers for the components (predominantly the meeples).  Base Game: There are two sets of stickers being reviewed. First are those for the base game. These stickers cover all of the meeples in the game as these are the predominant pieces. The stickers also cover every palm tree and palace as well. These pieces in particular stand out after being upgraded and the palm tree specifically has unique stickers for the first edition of the game. Sadly, the palace does not have any uniqueness for the first edition and the stickers were larger than my pieces. Each player also has their components enhanced through every camel colour having a unique sticker depiction. Once ...

Each of the meeple stickers have been designed based on the mouse that meeple represents, as each player controls the same four meeples with different characteristics and shapes. At first, it may look like there is ...

Shadow Kingdom of Valeria - Folded Space Insert: Review

Shadow Kingdom of Valeria - Folded Space Insert: Review Disclaimer:  A review copy for the insert was provided by the publisher. Introduction: If you have read my original review of Shadow Kingdoms of Valeria, you would know it is one of my favourites. This is why I was so excited to gain a review copy of the officially licensed insert. Organisation: The insert is highly organised, each player has their own tray, organised to the side in stacks of three. Each card type has its own divided section, and what's better is that the insert contains spacing for both expansions, something that I am excited to fit into the base box. Quality: I have never assembled a foamboard insert before and I was pleasantly amazed by the quality. Not only is each insert sturdy but also contains the amazing art we’ve all come to know and love from Valeria. Ease of Creation: The insert couldn't be easier to assemble as each piece has a detailed instruction on how to do this. The only difficult aspect ...

Clank - Levity Stickers: Review

Clank - Levity Stickers: Review Overview: Clank is a great adventure game that combines deck building with board exploration, for a review on the base game visit here. This review is focused on the stickers from Levity Games that aim on enhancing your wooden components. Meeples: Each character meeple has a sticker for their front and back, creating an enhanced presence throughout the whole game. These stickers are based on the characters and meeples from the base game including two male and female characters (matching the clank cover).  The feisty dragon piece has also been enhanced with the sticker addition whereby creating a mightier face as it gains more anger through player exploration. Clank Tokens: Unlike other sticker companies, Levity has added stickers to the other crucial part of Clank. These are the clank tokens that represent your life, the noise you make, and other elements from certain expansions. Final Thoughts: - Stickers for the clank tokens. - Currently only catac...

Viticulture Levity Stickers: Review

Viticulture Levity Stickers: Review Introduction: Viticulture is one of Stonemaier Games’ classic worker placement games about running a vineyard and converting grapes into wine. For a review of the base game click this link . Today we are reviewing stickers by Levity Games that covers the meeples and other wooden components in the game. Stickers: Levity Games have designed stickers covering much of the components included in Viticulture. These include the meeples, buildings and other wooden tokens. The meeples include representations of both female and male workers with unique items detailed on each of the five meeple workers.  The meeples and building have vibrant art that really brings these wooden pieces to life and both are colour coded to match the team they represent. One particualy interesting sticker is the cork that needs to be wrapped around the wooden token. Expansion Consideration: I don't yet own the Tuscany expansion for Viticulture so i cannot speak to the stickers...

Codenames Card Stand: Review

Codenames Card Stand: Review Introduction: Codenames is a deduction party game that has players split into two teams; Red and Blue. Each team has a spymaster that will have access to the key and will try to get their team to guess the correct words in a grid of seemingly random words. The team will fail if the opposition have guessed all their words or if the dreaded assassin has accidentally been guessed. This key is a pivotal part of the game and Game Maker has created an officially licensed product that gives this key the extra table presence deserving of such an important component.  Card Stand: The card stand is used to hold the key during the game. The piece can be adjusted into two methods, perfect for players close to the table and adjustable for the angled view. Four colours are available, one for the blue team and the red team, as well as a beige and cyan version. Game Maker has achieved an interesting way of printing it where there is the iconic game box spy silhouette d...

Lost Ruins of Arnak 3D Tokens Review

Lost Ruins of Arnak - 3D Tokens Review Introduction: Lost Ruins of Arnak is the hit release of 2020 by Czech Games Edition. Mechanically, it is a clever combination of worker placement and deck building. Throughout the span of five rounds, you will be going on expeditions, fighting guardians, equipping yourself with new items/artifacts and researching in the pursuit of the Lost Temple. All of this will lead to various accomplishments and ultimately score you victory points. This review is specifically for Game Maker’s upgraded tokens that replace the coins and compasses from the base game. Integration: These tokens seamlessly integrate into the game as there are exactly 27 of each token perfectly replacing what is included in the base game. The base game includes a mix of plastic tokens (jewels, arrowheads and tablets) and cardboard tokens.  These 3D tokens create a more immersive experience and are less segmented as now all the resources are composed of quality components. The qua...

Wingspan Nest Bowl and First Player Marker: Review

Wingspan Nest Bowl and First Player Marker: Review Introduction: Wingspan is a best-selling game by Stonemaier Games. Players are bird watchers collecting birds. Each card is a unique bird and players are using these birds to create engines that will expand and activate whenever the player uses that habitat. For the full review you can read my original here .  This is a game that already has a great table presence with gorgeous multicoloured eggs, but nowhere to really store them during the game. The team at Game Maker have you covered with these sturdy and detailed 3D-printed nest bowls. Nest Bowl: The Nest bowls could be used in two ways. They could be used for each player to store the resources that are accruing throughout the game, or they can be used to store the game’s egg resources. I find the better use to be the second option of  storing the pool of egg resources as these bowls are a perfect size and can hold a large number of eggs. I have the majority of the Wingspa...
