Lost Ruins of Arnak 3D Tokens Review

Lost Ruins of Arnak - 3D Tokens Review

Introduction:

Lost Ruins of Arnak is the hit release of 2020 by Czech Games Edition. Mechanically, it is a clever combination of worker placement and deck building. Throughout the span of five rounds, you will be going on expeditions, fighting guardians, equipping yourself with new items/artifacts and researching in the pursuit of the Lost Temple. All of this will lead to various accomplishments and ultimately score you victory points. This review is specifically for Game Maker’s upgraded tokens that replace the coins and compasses from the base game.

Integration:

These tokens seamlessly integrate into the game as there are exactly 27 of each token perfectly replacing what is included in the base game. The base game includes a mix of plastic tokens (jewels, arrowheads and tablets) and cardboard tokens.

These 3D tokens create a more immersive experience and are less segmented as now all the resources are composed of quality components. The quality of these 3D components blends perfectly with the other tokens as they have a high-quality finish and similar feel to them.

Quality:

The quality of these tokens is outstanding and Czech Games Edition seems to agree as they have embraced these tokens as an officially licenced product. The coin tokens look exactly like the games, including the surface pattern effect. These coins also have the presentation of being double-sided.

The compass token particularly stands out as it is composed of three layers, the base layer, the directions and the compass arrow, each signified by different colours. This presentation rockets the compass token into my favourite 3D-printed token position from all my games, as it really captures the feeling of a compass and matches the game perfectly.

Final Thoughts:

- Outstanding multiple layers on the compass.

- Matches the aesthetics of the games other resources.

- Double-sided coins.

- Great quality.

The tokens by Game Maker are great at elevating the table presence of Lost Ruins of Arnak. The original mix of plastic tokens and cardboard tokens for the resources creates a disconnect for players when playing the game. Not only do they now match the other resources but the quality of the print is amazing. Both tokens are of high quality with either three layers of printing for the compass or a double-sided production for the coins. If you already enjoy Lost Ruins of Arnak and love to upgrade your games to create faster immersion, these tokens are an easy recommendation.
