Introduction:

This villain pack covers pivotal characters from Dino Thunder and Power Rangers in Space. It includes two monsters, one nemesis and two bosses.

Monsters:

Ecliptor:

Health range: 4-7

Keywords: Guard (x2), Fast (x2) and Passive

There is no doubt about it, Ecliptor is a fierce monster. He has strong attacks including discarding half a player's deck and dealing five damage to each ranger, and this is just the beginning. His passive 'Mirror Image' deals damage at the start of every enemy turn which will drain the rangers health extremely quickly. Once you have fought tooth and nail and think you have him close to defeat, he has a 7 health card that will regenerate all his defeated cards in the battle, therefore his health. This is an ability I haven't seen before and makes Ecliptor one very challenging monster.

Elsa:

Health range: 3-6

Keywords: Guard (x2), Fast (x2) and Passive

Elsa is a smart monster, her goal is to eliminate the weakest rangers and she specifically targets the ranger with the least amount of cards in their deck in order to remove them from the fight. What's worse, her 'Blast Cascade' makes all rangers equal and has players discarding cards until they all tie for the lowest cards in their deck, making everyone an easy target.

Nemesis:

Zeltrax:

Health range: 3-6

Keywords: Guard (x2), Fast (x2) and Passive

Zeltrax is a hard attacker who is hellbent on taking down the lead ranger of the battle. His nemesis card makes the lead ranger take one more damage everytime damage is inflicted. This, paired with his two attack cards that do numerous attacks, allows Zeltrax to take down the lead ranger in little to no time. 'Grim Vendetta' is particularly fierce as the lead ranger has a choice to discard any amount of cards from their hand but for any not discarded there will be an attack of three damage (four due to the nemesis ability).

The lead ranger is trapped either way as they either lose their cards or take large strikes of damage multiple times. If you thought he would at least be easy to take down, you would be mistaken. He has a passive card that will remove all but two dice whenever a ranger attacks during battle, not only making him a challenge to defeat but this it also works to protect the foot soldiers.

Boss:

Mesogog:

Health range: 4-7

Keywords: Guard (x3), Fast (x3) and Passive (x2)

Mesogog wants to limit your options by constantly forcing players to discard cards. If that doesn't work he will deal you damage with 'Psionic Blast' equal to the cards in your hand. Worse still, while your hand is being depleted he is also speeding up the battle with 'Merciless Plan' that has two cards resolving every villain's turn.

Astronema:

Health range: 4-6

Keywords: Guard (x2), Fast (x3) and Passive (x2)

Astronema is a fast force. She will constantly be damaging the rangers with variable damage based on the rangers in combat, shields in a player's hand and discarding the top of the player's deck. Additionally, while 'Astral Vortex' is in play, these attacks will be aimed at the ranger with the least health.

Final Thoughts:

- Really strong monsters and nemeses.

- With two other expansions covers the characters from Dino Thunder.

- Good range of villains, each with different attack styles.

Power Rangers HOTG Villain Pack 4 is another great addition to this game. This covers engaging and challenging villains, monsters, bosses and even nemesis. The two consistencies with these villains are that they target the ranger with the least amount of health and also have strong passive abilities that make the enemies that much harder to defeat. If you are looking for a challenge and enjoy Power Rangers in Space and Dino Thunder, I recommend this expansion.
