Objective:

ComboCone Paradise, the well known ice cream parlor, has hired up to four new staff members. By the end of the shift the worker who has gained the most coins by fulfilling customer orders will earn a promotion and be the head combo artisan of the branch

Throughout the game players are collecting ice cream cards to be used immediately or later to stack onto cones. Once completed these cones fulfill the customer orders displayed in the middle. When a player fulfills an order the ice cream on that cone will be discarded and the player will either gain the victory points on that order or a benefit that the order provides.

Card Anatomy:

Ice Cream Cards:

Ice cream cards have a flavour depicted on the card with the brand displayed as a background. Additionally, each card has a combo brand at the top of the card, if the next ice cream placed on this card matches that brand then the player instantly gets to play an ice cream on any of their cones as a free action.

Rainbow Cards:

The rainbow ice cream is a wild that counts as the flavour and brand of the players choice, as well as the combo brand of the players choice.

Order Cards:

These are the orders that players will be completing. The amount of ice cream and flavours will matter in terms of completion but not the order in which the ice cream is stacked. These orders will either give victory points or a bonus such as an extra cone or drawing additional ice cream cards.

Cone Cards:

The cone cards are the base of the ice cream stacks that players will be building onto throughout the game.

Setup:

- Setup the ice cream card draw pile based on the number of players. 2 players had 52 cards; 3 players has 72 cards; 4 players has 92 cards and 5 players will use all available cards.

- Give each player two ice cream cones and place the remaining cones to the side.

- Place the rainbow cards within reach of all players.

- Reveal four cards of the ice cream and order cards next to their respective decks.

How to Play:

Players will take turns, starting with the first player (The player who most recently had ice cream). On each turn a player will perform one of these three actions: scoop, secure, serve. Scoop allows players to draw 1-3 ice cream cards, the amount must correspond to all the one flavour or brand. The action of securing lets the player reserve one order card as well as gain a rainbow ice cream. The serve action allows players to play ice cream cards equal to the amount of ice cream cones that player has. These cards can go on each cone, the same cone or a mix of both. At the end of a players turn they will fill any order they can, discarding the ice cream from the cone and adding the order to their victory point pile. If that order has an ability, the player can instead discard the card for the effect. Once the ice cream deck has finished, the game will end. Each player will have one final turn then the winner will be the player with the highest coin total.

Final Thoughts:

Key Points;

- Easy to Learn.

- Great introduction for children.

ComboCone Paradise is an easy introduction to set collection and tableau building. This is a perfect family weight game when introducing young children to these kind of mechanisms.
