Introduction:

Zeo Rangers is a standalone expansion for the Power Rangers deck-building game. This review will be looking at the game as an expansion only, for a review on how to play the base game you can click ‘here’.

New Content:

Zeo Sub-Crystals:

This is a new card type that represents the main rangers that come in this set. These cards count as wild cards so they can be attached to any space on your character. The cards will give resources but they also have a very powerful move that can be activated only once, following this the card will be destroyed. An example of one ability is gaining maximum energy or doing damage based on half the energy spent.

Zeo Blasters:

This is a unique card stack (not shuffled into the main deck) when playing like the blade blasters in the base game.  They are not extremely different but they allow the player to use the card throughout their turn instead of at the end of their turn. However, unlike the blade blaster, you cannot deal damage or remove adversary cards.

Increased Variability:

Characters:

This set includes 12 new characters; six on either side. Each of these characters has unique signature cards, master cards and zord cards.

Zord Bay/ Master Lair:

The master lair has a small tweak that when masters are added the player will heal one health based on the number of masters rather than doing one damage per master.

The zord bay has changed to include a new set-up of Megazords. These give you the chance to destroy cards in your deck as well as deal unblockable damage. The catch is that they will not ready all zords until the final form, they will instead ready only one zord at a time.

Main Deck:

Another 70 main deck cards join the fray to add plenty of replayability to an already largely replayable game.

Small tweaks on the starter decks:

These starter decks have unique art and small tweaks on effects that give a slightly unique setup to the deck.

Final Thoughts:

Pros:

- Much more variability

- Small additions/variations

- New zeo sub crystals and zeo blasters

Like the base game of Power Rangers Deck Building Game, Zeo Rangers is a fun- filled game packed with various strategic paths that a player can choose each game. During my recent game, I only focused on dealing damage by having as many adversaries in the grid (marketplace) as possible while my opponent barely attached any cards and mainly dealt damage from the zeo crystals and zords. This standalone expansion adds plenty but also does something that standalone expansions don't often do, it adds small changes to the standard parts such as the lair, zord base, blaster and starting deck. By doing this, it that makes those components more relevant rather than simply being a duplicate of what you can find in the base game. This is a great addition or starting point and I would heavily recommend this expansion. This deserves a Go-To Golden Seal as it's just as excellent as the original game and could be played as an expansion or someone's first version of the Power Rangers Deck Building Game.

Expand Your Game: Seals Some games that have been reviewed so far really stand out and for those games they deserve an extra highlight. These seals are those extra highlights for a Kickstarter Seal i would highly recommend backing or seeking out the kickstarter post release. For the Silver Seals i would seek out those games if they meet your style of game. The Golden Seals will be pat of my collection for a long time and i would highly recommend adding them to your collection.
