Objective:

Gudetama tricky egg is a trick-taking game based on a classic game called Cucumber. In this game you are trying to win tricks so you can lead the next trick, however, you do not want to win the last trick as that player will score the card they won with. The player to first gain 21 points or more in their score pile is the loser.

Setup:

- Shuffle all the cards.

- Deal 7 cards to each player.

How to Play:

The game is broken up into several rounds until a player reaches or exceeds 21 points.

The lead player will start the trick, this is normally the player that won the last trick. The next player has two options; they can either play the same value or higher, or they can play the lowest card in their hand. When you reach the last trick the player who won this trick will score their winning card, it will be placed face up in a scoring pile and be removed from the deck. This is why you want to save your lowest cards to the end.

There are two unique cards with special abilities; the number one and number fourteen. If number one is played in the last trick everyone will score their cards, but just the winner. The number fourteen will win you the trick as it is the highest card but you will not lead the next trick, instead you will pick another player to begin the following trick.

Final Thoughts:

Pros:

- Fun gudetama art.

- Easy rules.

- Wide player count.

Cons:

- Can be too simple to play.

Gudetama tricky egg card game is a fun revival of a classic game. The rules are simple but the fun comes alive with the art. As the one I'm reviewing is a Christmas edition it makes a perfect stocking stuffer for younger kids or players that enjoy classic trick-taking games.
