Introduction:

Take a deep breath and relax with 'Gentle Rain', a soothing tile placement game where you are trying to create squares to blossom each of the eight coloured flowers. It isn't as easy as it seems though as you will constantly block yourself throughout the game.

How to Play:

Shuffle the lake tiles and place the first one in the middle of the table. Each following turn you will draw a face-down lake tile and try to connect one of the sides to a pre-existing tile on the table. The new tile has to match each side of the previous tile(s) it is touching. If you are not able to play a tile due to no matching sides, you must discard it and draw a new tile.

Whenever you complete a square of four lake tiles, place a blossom token that matches one of the four surrounding flowers. If at any point you run out of tiles or have placed all the blossom tiles the game has finished.  Each blossom tile and every leftover tile is worth one point.

Final Thoughts:

Pros:

- Challenging to beat your high score.

- Addictive to play just one more time, every time.

- Easy to learn, set up and tear down.

- It has opened my eyes to solo games.

Cons:

- First time I played the game I wasn't enamoured.

- Mainly a solitaire game.

Gentle Rain is the first solo game I have played. At first it didn't grab my attention but after the first game, I was compelled to try to beat my high score. Five games later my high score was seven and I refused to stop until I reach double digits.

This is a game that is so easy to setup and tear down that it creates the perfect atmosphere to play after a long day while the tv is on the background. For my first solo experience I heavily recommend giving this charming tile placement game a go. Gentle Rain has opened my eyes on solo games and for that and everything stated above it has earned a Silver Seal of Approval.

These seals are those extra highlights for a Kickstarter Seal i would highly recommend backing or seeking out the kickstarter post release. For the Silver Seals i would seek out those games if they meet your style of game. The Golden Seals will be pat of my collection for a long time and i would highly recommend adding them to your collection.
