'Tapestry' has gained its very first expansion. This expansion adds  balanced gameplay and more in terms of landmarks, civilisations, space tiles and tapestry cards for all tracks.

New Ways to Gain Landmarks:

In the base game, you could only gain landmarks by advancing on a track or by upgrading technology. With this expansion landmarks can be gained through space tiles, tapestry cards, and a landmark goal that players begin the game with. 

These landmark goals reward players with a significant-sized building once they have achieved the requirement (e.g. by having six exploration tiles). Another addition to the game is a landmark track token. These stay on the track until the first player has taken the corresponding landmark which remains unavailable to others afterwards. The tokens are a simple way of showing to all players which landmarks are available throughout the game.

More Civilisations and Errata:

There are multiple new civilisations that add unique challenges and gameplay strategies. Some of these civilisations also give more choice to the player when to activate certain benefits making them easier to learn and more versatile. The original civilisations have also received updates that are detailed on the back of the rulebook for a more balanced gameplay. This enhancement of the base civilisations is a great way to make sure that the game remains fair as the new additions seem more desirable at first. 

New Space Tiles:

There are three new space tiles that will give you 5 points for advancing on either the science, technology or military track. This is a huge range of points that makes the space tiles much more desirable as a strategy to pursue. 

New Tapestry Cards:

Numerous tapestry cards have been added to the game to increase variability. The main addition with these cards are for traps to trigger more frequently. Several of these new cards can be played in reaction to an action during the game rather than at the start of a new age. 

Final Thoughts:

Pro:

- More of the same awesomeness. 

- New ways to gain landmarks.

- Errata for civilisations.

This is the perfect expansion for Tapestry as it adds much more content to create new strategies for players to pursue. While at the same time keeping the balance of merging with the base game. The other main improvement is that the expansion creates multiple options to gain landmarks to help players work on their capital cities. If you own and enjoy Tapestry then this is an instant and undeniable addition in my opinion.
